QuorumAI
Wherever the question comes up.
An extra layer of support, from the paddock to the shed. QuorumAI answers from the wiki and the program builder, in plain words, and shows you where every answer came from.
Try a question
Ask it like you'd ask Steve.
In the paddock, writing up the program, down the rows, or when a pest turns up. Pick one to see how it answers, with the sources underneath.
Example answers. QuorumAI gives general information, not advice for your farm.
Crop's looking pale and soft. Should I throw more nitrogen at it?
Maybe not yet. Pale and soft can mean the plant isn't using the nitrogen it already has, and more on top won't fix that.
A sap test will show whether nitrate is piling up in the plant. If it is, sort out what's stopping it becoming protein first. As Steve puts it: nitrogen is a liability until it becomes a protein.
I'm writing next season's program. Where do I start?
Roots first, then the foundation. Phosphorus at planting gets the roots away. Calcium, boron and silicon go in before the cells divide: they're Steve's three amigos, and they build the structure everything else hangs on.
Then plan around the crop's stages, not the calendar, since every one is critical: what the plant needs at each, and when you'll test to check it's getting there. Potassium comes once the foundation is in. The program builder in the learning hub lays it out stage by stage, and QuorumAI can help you fill it in.
When do my avocado trees need calcium most?
Earlier than most people think. Calcium travels with the water the tree moves, and a young fruit takes in most of what it will ever get in its first weeks after set.
So the foundation needs to be there before flowering, not added once the fruit is sizing. A sap test around fruit set shows whether the tree has calcium to give, though the fruit can still fall short.
Aphids are back. Spray, or wait?
Start with why they're there. Steve's first question with any pest is what it's telling you about the plant.
Aphids go for soft, sappy growth, and that often means nitrogen the plant hasn't turned into protein yet. A sap test will show it. Talk to your agronomist about the outbreak today, and look at the nutrition side before the next one.
Ground rules
Five rules to steer by.
QuorumAI is an extra layer of support. It doesn't replace you, your agronomist or Steve, and these five rules keep it that way.
- It shows its sources.
Every answer names where it came from, so you can check it.
- It says when it doesn't know.
Where the wiki and the builder don't settle it, QuorumAI still helps, but tells you it's an option or a best guess, never a known fact.
- It hands the hard ones to Steve.
It gives you its best answer first. When you're both stuck, it suggests sending the question to Steve's list, and he and the team reply by email within the week.
- Your questions stay yours.
Other members don't see what you ask. Steve sees a question when you send it to him.
- It can't walk the crop.
You can. As Steve says: trust the data, but stay in the field.
Where answers come from
Not the whole internet.
QuorumAI answers from the wiki, your program and the Course as it's written. Every answer shows where it came from, so you can go and check.
